Believe it or not, there is a golden rule of weight loss! You can't expect to lose weight if you are immobile during the day, yet eating the same calories as if you were moving around? We all know this, it's common sense. Yet many of us find that we eat more during the day when we're working because we're bored or because we seek some small grain of happiness in our daily life.
However, the Golden Rule of Weight Loss Should Be: The less you move, the less you should eat. The more you move, the more you should eat! Seems simple huh? So, why do we continue to eat the same amounts when we're not moving around? The psychology behind it becomes increasingly important to understand.
The Golden Rule of Weight Loss
If you eat a lot and don’t move, then you will surely gain weight. So eat less! If you move more, then your body requires more energy to burn, so you must eat more to power your engine!
Your body knows if you don’t move a lot during the day. If you sit and work on the computer most every day, you shouldn't get that hungry! Mind over matter!
If you work at a computer all day, you don’t need a lot of food to sustain you. When you do eat, learn to eat small amounts at a time and eat foods that replenish your body and that are good for you instead of fatty foods that make you gain fat.
If you can learn to listen to your body you'll know when you are really hungry. You'll also know how to control those unexpected urges when you get them!
Eat wholesome, nutritional foods most of the time! Nutritious foods are your friend! Junk food is your enemy. Nutritious foods are foods that feed your body which is supposed to be your ‘temple’.
I have followed this rule for weight loss most of my life! That's why I'm still lean and trim at age 50. I feel absolutely gross when I put on even a few pounds.
Statistics show, that people over the age of 40, gain an average of about 5 pounds a year. That's a LOT. Do the math and see how much weight you've gained a year! It is much harder to get extra weight off of you the older you get also. So do it now while you still can. Lose the extra weight and you will feel light and fluffy! Keep the extra weight and you will keep feeling heavy and stuffed.
Another thing to consider is moderation. Its important to know your limits. Three pieces of chocolate cake is more than your share while occasionally having one piece of cake is more acceptable, especially if you're trying to slim down and take weight off.
You can't be healthy and happy if you're lugging around excess baggage all the time. Weight issues can quickly turn into lifelong bad habits. Its a spiraling tragedy if you continue to put excessive amounts of food into your body.
Food was meant to be medicinal and nutritious. Going back to basics, eating more raw foods, and saying 'no' to fatty foods more often will help you shed pounds.
The golden rule is to eat the right foods when you do eat, and to eat less food in general when you're not moving. Make sense? If you follow this guideline for weight loss, you will lose weight!
