How to Get Smooth Skin at
Any Age!

If you want to get smooth skin, you have to be willing to work at it some.

If you think about the softness of a baby’s behind, you already know that we are all born with clear skin.

What happens over time however, is that some of that smoothness disappears, so it’s important to have a daily skin care regiment.

As you age, your skin actually expands, and therefore pores appear larger. Wrinkles also form with time, and can interrupt the skin’s surface in a very unwanted way! To have subtle skin, you’ll need to reduce large pores, cellulite, wrinkles, and other skin-interrupters!

How to Get Smooth Skin for Bodies

  • Moisturize Skin – Your skin must get enough moisture for you to have soft smooth skin at every age! Body lotions, creams, and serums are the products you’ll need to use! Water based lotions work best for normal to oily skin. Heavier lotions or creams work best for normal to dry skin. Serums are a fantastic choice for all skin types.

Moisturizers are absorbed into the epidermis of your skin. Since they can’t be absorbed any deeper, they help provide a barrier between the epidermis and the environment, which helps seal oils that your body makes naturally. The right moisturizer will help you get smooth skin and keep it!

  • Body washes - Some body washes contain natural or synthetic oils that leave your skin feeling smooth and soft! Look for body washes that provide extra oils, like Dove Cream Oil Body Wash.

  • Body scrubs – Just like your face, your body skin needs to be thoroughly cleaned from time to time. Body scrubs (also called salt scrubs) are the perfect answer. Salt scrubs contain salt, which helps with exfoliation of dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin. Remove them, and your skin looks rejuvenated and refreshed. Scrubs also contain oils. The oils help replenish moisture and give you soft, smooth skin.

You can also make your own body scrubs. Check out these inexpensive recipes!

Homemade Body Scrubs – Save Money and Time!

  • Dry skin brushing – This is one of my favorite ways to improve skin. Its so easy to dry skin brush daily! When you dry brush your skin, you remove dead skin cell build up and you help circulate lymph. Lymph helps remove toxins from your body so it’s vitally important for your health! Dry brush before you get in the shower everyday, and you will notice visible improvements to your skin.

  • Exfoliation – To get smooth skin, exfoliation is imperative. The easiest way (besides scrubs) is to use an exfoliating lotion that contains alpha hydroxy acids, also called AHA’s. There are other types of exfoliating acids however, so there are a wide variety to choose from. Most AHA's are mild and work well over time. They help slough off old skin cells, which helps new skin cells to be formed. New skin looks young and alive. Old skin looks dull and sallow.

How to Get Soft Smooth Skin for Faces

  • Clean Skin – If you want to get smooth skin, you need to deep clean your face on a regular basis. Skin toners help remove bacteria, dirt, oils, sweat, and other impurities from your skin. They also help shrink pores which also smooths out skin. Smaller pores help smooth out the surface of your skin.

You will need to examine your face from time to time so a good makeup mirror can make the difference between good skin and great skin!

  • Moisturizers – The skin on your face needs a bit more attention than the skin on the rest of your body. Why? Because facial skin is thin and therefore is considered to be very delicate, so be gentle with the skin on your face!

how to apply lotions around eyes imageAlways apply moisturizers the right way around your eyes. Directionality is so important when you're manipulating the skin in this area. If you want beautiful eyes, make sure you're applying beauty products the correct way.

If you have dry facial skin, you’ll need to use heavier creams or lotions that are best suited for dry skin. If you have oily facial skin, you’ll need water based moisturizers to help moisturize your skin without adding oils! The one moisturizer that’s suited for all facial skin types, are serums! Facial serums like Olay Regenerist and Estee Lauder Idealist are light weight but have bold moisturizing power. Use them regularly to get smooth skin!

  • Cold rinses – When you rinse your skin regularly with cold water, you help close the pores on your skin. Contracted pores help your skin look smoother and feel smoother, which also helps with makeup application. Large pores are more porous, so they are far more likely to collect dirt and bacteria, which leads to more pimples. Small pores on the other hand, are far less porous and do not collect as much unwanted debris.

  • Facial masks – Most of the time, facial masks contain organic ingredients which help contract and deep clean the skin. Masks help pull up bacteria that lie deep within the pores. As the mask dries, skin is contracted which helps shrink pores. Facial masks are a great way to get smooth skin almost instantly.

You can make your own facial masks too! Facial Masks for every Skin Type

  • Facial scrubs – The scrubs for your face are a bit finer than the scrubs you’ll find for your body. To help avoid zits and pimples, use them regularly to help deep clean pores and tone skin. A good friend of mine mentioned that her face looked better since she was using one everyday! So I decided why not try them again myself! Take the 30-day challenge and see if you don’t notice results too! Facial scrubs are the perfect product to get smooth skin!

You can find a lot more great information about them on these pages!

  • Exfoliation – When you exfoliate your skin regularly, you allow new skin cells to be formed. New skin = fresh, young looking skin! Alpha hydroxy facial lotions are perfect for women over 20! When used regularly, AHA’s help slough off old, dead skin cells. When dead skin cells are removed, you body makes new skin cells to replace them!

Retinol creams and lotions also work much in the same way, and are best suited for women over 40. As you age, it gets harder and harder to get smooth skin. That’s what makes retinols so perfect! Some of the best retinol products are made by ROC. Try ROC Deep Wrinkle Serum for a great retinol at the right price!

  • Hair removal – If you have unwanted facial hair, you’ll need to remove it if you like soft smooth skin! Superfluous hairs are tiny hairs on your body that help protect it from the environment. On your face however, they can become worrisome or bothersome! On women, mustache hair, chin hair, and overzealous eyebrows can ruin a perfectly good looking face! You’ll need to remove facial hair if you want to have smooth skin! The advantages are tremendous! Not only does your skin look and feel smoother, your makeup glides on much more easily!

Use facial wax or a depilatory to get rid of unwanted facial hair!

There are other things you can do that help get smooth skin!

More Tips to Get Smooth Skin

  • Your diet is so important! Eat healthy foods that encourage better health. The healthier you are, the more your skin will show it! Eat a wide variety of brightly colored veggies to get more antioxidants from your foods! Antioxidants help destroy free radicals that cause cancer.

  • Keep out of the sun unless you’re wearing a broad spectrum sunblock! The sun can and will destroy your skin, which becomes increasingly more important as you age. Don’t be fooled though. Skin care should start at an early age, so taking care not to get too much sun will help you immensely later on. Age spots are more often than not, created by sun damage. You can also develop the deadly skin cancer melanoma. This is the worst possible effect of too much sun exposure.

  • Drink plenty of water to help nourish and moisturize your skin from the inside out! Drinking water helps to eliminate toxins in your body. The more toxins that are removed, the better your skin looks! If you don't like plain water, opt for lemon water! Yummy!

  • Don’t pull or tug on your precious facial skin! Be very gentle when you apply moisturizers to your skin! Remember to always apply your moisturizers in the correct way around your eyes. Many women get this wrong. If you do too, you’ll create wrinkles and lines instead of removing them!

  • If your skin feels dry, apply lotion. If it still feels dry, use a heavier lotion or cream.

  • Apply moisturizers everyday to get smooth skin! You can also tone your skin by giving yourself a quick 10 minute firming body massage with your favorite body lotion, daily!

  • If the moisturizers you’re using aren’t working well, change them! Your skin can’t benefit from using a lotion if you’re not using a lotion that right for your skin type!

  • Use organic based lotions more often than lotions that contain non-essential synthetic chemicals. Organic lotions are full of herbs, oils, and other nature approved ingredients that help your skin the most!

  • Remember that your hands also need taking care of! Women with the softest hands, typically apply lotion to their hands throughout the day and at night before bed.

  • Lips are often overlooked too. There are no sebaceous glands in your lips, therefore, your lips need even more moisture than the rest of your body! Saliva helps provide some moisture but lip balms help to lock the moisture in! So don't forget your lip care!

Develop a good daily skin care regiment early on to get smooth skin. Women have a hard time believing that I’m in my 50’s because I have always taken the time to take care of my skin! Make your skin a priority and the lasting effects will last a lifetime!
