Eating a Balanced Diet to Decrease Weight and Improve Health

Eating a balanced diet is one of the simplest ways to lose weight for the long term. Way before processed foods were introduced to the food market, people got their nutrition from the foods they consumed, and few people were overweight. Amazing, right? Moderating your diet is the absolute best formula for maintaining a healthy body.

Consuming a blend of the right amounts of unprocessed, wholesome, natural foods, can regenerate your cells, tissues, and organs and help you shed those extra pounds. Getting proper nutrition by eating a balanced diet makes 'dieting' tabu. It's simply not necessary to 'follow a plan' when you're eating a balanced diet!

Unfortunately, most people follow the Standard American Diet, which is brimming in processed foods that only encourage weight gain. Food is supposed to feed your soul and create better health, yet the opposite happens when you don't consume wholesome foods regularly. What you eat today has a long lasting effect on your future health.

Most of the calories in the standard diet come from fats and sugars alone. The diet lacks the natural enzymes that improve health and encourage weight loss. If you consume processed foods on a daily basis, your body is forced to burn up your own limited supplies of these vital metabolic enzymes, and your body has no choice but to gain weight instead.

If you truly want to live a full healthy life, you must eliminate or at least reduce your dietary intake of certain 'bad' foods and consider eating a balanced diet. It might take a little time but once you do, you will finally be able to shed weight for good!

Foods to Avoid Eating a Balanced Diet





  • Refined sugar (sucrose) is one of the worst offenders you can consume on a regular basis, especially if you consider eating a balanced diet. White sugar is an industrially processed food product that is deficient in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fiber. It suppresses immunity, increases the incidence of diabetes, causes excess fat and overgrowth's of yeasts, takes nutrients away from the body, and depletes potassium and magnesium reserves, a common factor in heart disease.

    Since most people consume far more sugars than their bodies require for energy, your liver converts the extra sugar into molecules called triglycerides and stores them as fat, or produces LDL (bad) cholesterol from the by-products of sugar and deposits it in veins and arteries. Excess sugar consumption is a major factor in arteriosclerosis and obesity as well.

  • Hydrogenated fats came into being when butter was scarce during WWII. To compensate for the shortfall, American chemists invented margarine and shortening. However, when hydrogenated oils are ingested on a regular basis, it suppresses your immunity and depletes vital white blood cells, which are your bodies’ natural defenders! (White blood cell formation is particularly dependent on essential fatty acids, which are NOT found in hydrogenated oils.)

    When immunity becomes compromised, cancer and other infections such as yeast, viruses, and bacteria invade the body. Virtually ALL processed foods and pre-packaged foods include partially hydrogenated fats and should not be included when eating a balanced diet.


  • Consumption of regular cows milk is not a good choice. It should not be included when you're eating a balanced diet. Pasteurized milk has more than four times the protein and half the carbohydrate content of human milk. Pasteurization destroys the natural enzymes found in cow’s milk, which is required to digest the protein content of the milk. The excess milk protein putrefies in the digestive tract, and becomes a sticky sludge. Some of this sludge also seeps into blood vessels.

    As this putrid sludge accumulates from daily consumption of dairy products, your body is forced to excrete it through the skin (as acne) and lungs. (catarrh). The rest of it festers in the body, forms an overabundance of fat and mucus that breeds infections, causes allergies and stiffens joints with calcium deposits. Many cases of chronic asthma, allergies, ear infections, and acne, have been totally cured by the elimination of dairy products from the diet.

  • The biggest problem with meat in a standard diet, is in the addition of steroids and antibiotics. About 40 percent of all the antibiotics produced in the US are regularly fed to livestock,. When you eat meats that contain them, you also ingest these dangerous and non essential inclusions. Eaten regularly, they suppress your natural immunity.

    US cattle are also given synthetic growth hormones that make them bigger, increase fat deposits, and bring entire herds of livestock into heat at the same time for breeding and increased milk production. They also stimulate impregnated female cows into early abortion that are scheduled for slaughter. These hormones are responsible for the high incidence of ovarian and breast cancers in US women, as well as premature puberty in children. These synthetic chemicals cause obesity, acne, respiratory infections, and behavioral abnormalities.

    Pork is one meat you should entirely avoid. Because of it’s omnivorous diet, the meat is hard to digest and hard on the liver. In countries where pork is consumed together with alcoholic beverages, (beer and sausage, wine and schnitzel), the risk of cirrhosis of the liver increases by a factor of 1000. Doing a simple liver cleanse occasionally is always a smart idea if you consume pork regularly!

  • Many grains on the market today are stored in large silos, which permits the growth of a mold that produces aflatoxin, one of the most potent carcinogens in the world. Corn is especially susceptible to aflatoxin contamination as well as wheat and other grains.

    As a result of modern milling practices, which removes the nutrient-rich bran and germ and leaves only the starchy white pith, most commercial grain foods are nutritionally deficient. As a result, eating grains frequently accumulates over time and causes visceral fat. Your body has no choice but to put on extra pounds.

  • Overcooked vegetables are absent of all nutrients. Removing the skin from many vegetables (such as carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes), also removes the essential vitamins that were intended for consumption. Canned vegetables are no good either, because the vegetables contain too much sodium and are over-cooked and processed.

  • Fruits that are eaten with other foods can be toxic to your body. Most fruits go straight from the stomach to the duodenum (part of the intestine) for digestion, which means if you eat fresh fruits after a big meal, it has to wait to be digested. While its waiting to be digested, bacteria attack the fruit and ferment it, which removes all the nutrients and causes excess gas and metabolic wastes.

  • Nuts and seeds that are dried (dry roasted) are difficult to digest due to the enzyme inhibitors, which enable them to be stored for long periods of time without going rancid.

  • Refined table salt should not be included when eating a balanced diet. The process removes virtually all the minerals and trace elements, leaving a white crystal that is 98% sodium chloride. Among the nutrients removed in the process is magnesium, which is vital to immunity. Refined salt is hidden in fast foods, packaged foods, and processed foods. The health problems caused by refined salt is yet another example of how processed food industry has cornered the market on a vital food element, then refined and denatured it, in favor of greed. Refined salt is a poor product that undermines your health and nutrition.

    Foods to Include When Eating a Balanced Diet





  • Natural sugars such as fructose (found in fresh fruits and honey), lactose (found in raw unprocessed milk), and maltose (found in whole grains) are natural substances that help to control blood sugars and work systematically with your body in a healthy, well rounded way. Natural sugars help satisfy a sweet tooth when you're trying to lose weight and eating a balanced diet.

  • Natural, unadulterated fats are highly nutritious and contain far more energy than any other type of food on earth. They are the most efficient fuel for energy on the planet, including complex carbs and natural sugars. However, over the years, they’ve gotten a bad rap, and most people just don’t understand that they’ve been brain-washed!

    Natural fats like butter, nut oils, and fish oils contain nutritious essential fatty acids, and are required for many metabolic processes and vital functions. Fatty acids build and repair cellular membranes, especially in the brain, nerves, and white blood cells. They also help keep blood vessels clean and lubricated so they function properly. These essential fatty acids cannot be produced internally so they must be introduced from dietary sources.

    Eating a balanced diet should include an abundant amount of unadulterated fats. The best sources are from butter, meat, fish, nuts, seeds, and cold pressed oils, such as coconut oil or olive oil. Cold pressed oils have been an integral part of the Mediterranean diet for thousands of years and the countries that consume the diet, have some of the lowest rates of cancer, heart disease, and obesity.

  • If you want to include milk when eating a balanced diet, your best bet is goats milk, which is approximately the same nutritional composition and balance of human milk. Almond milk is also a good choice as long as it doesn't contain hydrogenated fats. The only safe dairy products made from cow’s milk are butter and active live culture yogurt or kefir, but they should be limited. Other good sources of calcium are almonds, broccoli, kale, sesame seeds, and sardines.

  • US livestock absorb herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers used to grow the feed crops, which they are forced to consume. A high percentage of these animals are riddled with tumors and tuberculosis when they’re sent to slaughter and these poisons are directly passed on to you.

    • The safest meat to consume when eating a balanced diet is from livestock that has been organically raised, without drugs and synthetic hormones. Also opt for consumption of range-fed meats instead of pen-fed meats. Lamb is also a good choice in domestic meat as well as wild game such as deer and quail.

    • Free range chickens are the best choice available because the chickens are allowed to exercise regularly and eat a variety of insects, worms, and natural foods.

    • If you must eat red meat, it should be consumed as rare as possible and preferably served with horseradish, fresh ginger root, or a strong mustard, which stimulates the liver and gall bladder to secrete the juices required to breakdown the fats and proteins.

    • When eating a balanced diet, free range eggs are a safe choice in today’s markets but don’t overindulge. The best way to cook eggs for the most nutrition is soft boiled or lightly poached, with the yolks remaining soft. Raw egg yolks are an excellent source of protein, amino acids, biotin, and other nutrients.

    • Deep water fish such as tuna and salmon are excellent sources of protein as well as omega 3 rich oils. Fish is most nutritious when eaten in a raw state, such as sashimi or sushi, or lightly steamed or poached.


  • Whole grains contain (good) fats, vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which truly makes them a wholesome food to choose when eating a balanced diet. Grains can cause indigestion and flatulence if they are not thoroughly chewed and combined with sufficient amounts of saliva before swallowing them. All carbohydrates require an alkaline enzyme called ptyalin, which is secreted from salivary glands to initiate the breakdown of starches.

    You can also make grains more digestible by roasting them until they’re golden brown before cooking. This process is called dextrinization and it converts much of the hard to digest starch into easily digested simple sugars. For the same reason, it’s best to toast bread before consumption or opt for grilled sandwich bread. This is especially important if you want to lose a few pounds.

    *Note - Unless you have access to freshly harvested whole grains, its best to take daily vitamins to prevent aflotaxin poisoning.

  • Eating a balanced diet should include a wide variety of vegetables daily, (including the skins), where most of the nutrients are found. Lightly steaming or stir-frying veggies is also a good choice as long as you don’t overcook them. Juicing vegetables is also a great way to increase nutritional value.

    Vegetables are a wonderfully beneficial alkalizer, which helps to counteract the highly acid-forming SAD. Vegetables are high in fiber, which helps move along poorly digested foods from the intestinal tract. They are easy to digest and help protect your body against cancer by neutralizing toxins.

    If you can’t find the fresh vegetables you like in season, it’s best to buy frozen vegetables, which helps retain their nutritional value.

  • Most fruits are wonderfully alkalizing and are easy to digest and metabolize when eaten on an empty stomach. Fresh fruits help clean the digestive tract even more than veggies, and contain a ton of vital nutrients. A good way to detoxify and balance the pH of the entire alimentary canal (entire digestive tract) is to eat nothing but fresh fruits for one to seven days. Top choices of cleansing fruits are watermelon, lemon, grapefruit, apples, and red or black grapes. Juicing is also a great choice for safely losing weight.

  • Nuts and seeds are a rich source of amino acids and omega fatty acids but they must be eaten raw and as freshly harvested as possible to ensure nutritional benefits. The best seeds for nutrition are sunflower, pumpkin, and flax seeds. The best nuts are almonds and pecans. (Walnuts are good for you too but they tend to mold easily and should not be included when eating a balanced diet.)

  • Salt is crucial to human health and nutritional balance. It alkalizes blood and other vital fluids, helps retain water, and is a major player in metabolism. Without salt, humans would die. The best dietary source of the vital mineral magnesium today, is whole, unrefined salt or gray sea salt. (Which is harvested by hand along the coast of France and known as Celtic sea salt.)

    True Celtic sea salt contains only 82 percent sodium chloride and its natural magnesium content naturally drains excess sodium from the body, which prevents edema, kidney malfunction, and high blood pressure.

    One to three grams of sodium per day is an appropriate amount but most Americans consume 12-15 grams daily, which leads to excess fat and excess weight.

  • Water is essential and vital when eating a balanced diet. The best way to get water that’s safe for consumption is through carbon filtering. If you have city water, invest in a filter like PUR or Brita, that removes toxic contaminants like chloride and fluoride. If you have well water, you need to remove other contaminants from the water like pesticidal runoff by using a reverse osmosis water purifier. These are easily installed under the kitchen sink and provide some of the best drinking water available.

    *Note – Reverse osmosis water purifiers should not be used with city water. PUR water filters are not meant to filter well water.

    When trying to lose weight and eating a balanced diet, drink at least 8 glasses of water daily and more if you can handle it. The more pure water you drink, the more weight you are bound to lose.

    There are around 6000 or more synthetic chemicals used in the processed food industry and they should be avoided at all costs. Some are known to have carcinogenic properties yet the FDA allows them to be added to many of the foods you consume. Processed foods contain white sugar, refined starch, pasteurized milk, refined salts, and hydrogenated vegetable oils.

    Eating a balanced diet to lose weight should not include processed foods. It’s just as easy to make things from scratch and there are a lot of good recipes available online for people who are pressed for time.

    Your health is dependent on the good eating habits you acquire and the bad eating habits you break! Eating a balanced diet isn’t out of reach. You may just need to make some adjustments as you get more into health and wellness. Disease is avoidable if you are willing to make at least some dietary changes! The best way to lose weight permanently is eating a balanced diet for life!
