What is the best home remedy for moisturizing hair? What salon product would you suggest instead?

Dry hair can be a sign of underproductive sebaceous glands or an overuse of harsh chemicals or hot appliances. It can also be genetic. Of course there are other causes for
dry hair.
Products you have around the house that moisturize
dry hair are mayonnaise and oil. You can use any kind of oil but the best kinds are olive oil or
coconut oil. Heat the oil slightly, apply it to your hair, cover with a cap, and leave on your hair for at least 15 minutes. Rinse after application. You can also leave the oil in your hair overnight, for extremely dry hair.
Use the same application for mayonnaise but don't heat it up.
Your hair maybe oily for a few days afterward but once you shampoo and condition again, your hair will be noticeably softer, shinier, and smoother.
Some of the
ingredients in regular
shampoos and conditioners, can be very drying to your hair over time. You may want to switch over to organic hair products that don't contain drying chemicals. Try an
organic hair conditioner first to see if it helps.
It'd be hard to recommend a product to you because there are different
hair types and most people have different
hair problems and needs. You may need to try several products in order to find the product that works best for your hair.
Another thing to consider is the actual composition of your hair. Your hair is made of keratin (protein), which helps bind to moisture applied to your hair. Conditioners act like a coating that help protect hair structure.
If the structure of your hair is compromised, conditioners can't hold onto your hair. You'll need to rebuild your hair with
protein treatments before conditioners can work effectively.
Protein Treatment for Hair Damage Since you live at the beach too, your hair also has other needs, than someone who doesn't live at the beach. Strong, salty winds blowing off the ocean might feel good but they can be very drying to your hair and skin. Try
shea butter moisturizers for your hair and skin. These are a bit heavier than conventional moisturizers but they work well when you live at the beach.
