Detox foods help cleanse your body after you’ve been naughty and eaten all the wrong kinds of foods! Overindulgence does have its pitfalls! However, there’s no need to sweat things out in a gym necessarily.

There are some foods you can easily incorporate into your diet that help remove some of the ill effects of feeding frenzies. Everyone’s guilty of having a few, even a girl like me!

The thing is that you don’t need to drink any fancy smoothies or to go on a starvation diet. These no-hassle body friendly foods are easy to blend into your meals, so you won’t have to sacrifice a thing. Eat enough of them and your body will respond in a positive manner.

6 Detox Foods That Help Rectify Overindulgence

A few handfuls of raw almonds, packed in vitamin E, daily helps to remove fatty deposits that build up in the liver. Researchers at the National Cancer Institute found an inverse response between vitamin E intake and liver cancer risk. People that consumed the most almonds (about 15 almonds daily), showed a 40 percent lower risk of liver cancer than the people who consumed less.

You might never think about guacamole being good for your gut but it truly works wonders for the digestive tract. Cilantro, the distinctive herb that’s in guac, contains certain oils that have a simmer-down effect on an upset tummy. The regular consumption of guacamole also shows a positive effect on patients with IBS, according to a study published in the Journal of Digestive Diseases and Science.

Most all types of tea can help soothe the beast within but white tea packs a one-two punch that helps pin-point and remove belly fat. In a study published by the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, researchers found that white tea helps increase the breakdown of fat (lipolysis) and blocks the formation of fat cells (adipogenesis). The caffeine in white tea combined with EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) is also helpful at decreasing body fat.

In fact, supplementing with tumeric has been shown to reduce bile duct blockage and significantly decrease scarring (fibrosis) by interfering with chemical reactions involved in the inflammatory process.

Because many of the amino acids and minerals found in asparagus help protect liver cells from toxins, especially alcohol. Wild sockeye salmon is one of the best all-around detox foods! Research proves that a diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids helps reverse arterial stiffness, a common side effect of smoking. A three-week study found in the International Journal of Cardiology found smokers who supplemented with only 2 grams of omega-3's daily (such as a 4-ounce portion of salmon), saw significant improvement in the elasticity of the arteries, which allowed for better blood flow.
