Depression Help - Where There is Good News!

Depression help is widely varied and confusing. It can be so frustrating trying to decipher which treatment is the best for you. There is a simple supplement that can help you better cope with it.

Depression is a very complicated subject. It manifests itself in various ways and has different effects on most people. Results from prescription meds are also widely varied. There is no universal pill that will 'fix you'. Depression has also been linked to a genetic malfunction.

The best thing to do for serious depression is of course, consult a doctor and get medical help. Hopefully they can pin point the exact cause of your depression. It is true that sometimes even the doctor’s fail to relieve depression in an individual.

Depression involves the brain's delicate chemistry and reacts to chemicals called neurotransmitters. These chemicals help send messages between the nerve cells located in your brain. Certain neurotransmitters regulate mood and behavior. If they run low, people can become depressed, anxious, and/or stressed out. Stress also can affect the balance of neurotransmitters which can lead to depression.

Sometimes, a person may experience depression without being able to point to any particular trauma or stressful event. People who have a genetic predisposition to depression may be more prone to an imbalance of neurotransmitter's.

Medications that doctors use to treat depression work by helping to restore the proper balance of neurotransmitters. There are a ton of drugs available on the market today such as Zoloft, Wellbutrin, etc. They have varying success rates but can also impose certain unwanted side effects, like weight gain. There is some good news for mild to moderate depression and it has nothing to do with prescription drugs.

Real Help for Depression

If you have mild to moderate depression there is depression help and it's a simple treatment to try. Research has shown that people who have higher amounts of Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fatty Acids in their systems are far more likely NOT to have depressive symptoms. Beneficial Essential Omega Fatty Acids are easily accessible, cheap, and easily absorbed into the body.

Research has also shown definite links between low levels of Omega Fatty Acids in the brain and depression and/or other psychiatric problems, such as Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.

Although there's no guarantee that taking Omega's will help you overcome your depression, IT IS something to consider. Natural depression help is one great treatment to try if you haven't already!

There are other benefits to taking Omega’s which include: regulating blood pressure, blood clot formation for injuries to the skin, controlling blood lipids, enhancing the immune response to injury and infection, and reducing the risks of Hypertention, Arthritis and Cancer.

Essential Omega Fatty Acids are contained in Fish Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Borage Oil, and Olive Oil. I take a brand that has the first three of these in it. This combination provides Essential Omega 3, 6 and 9 Fatty Acids. I commonly take 2 softgels a day for preventative measures. Omega's are inexpensive and very effective if you take them regularly.

* The best way to get your Omega’s is to eat fish twice a week. It’s not cheaper, but its better for you! I simply don’t eat more fish as it has gotten so costly now. My favorite fish is Grouper and it’s about $16/lb. right now. YIKES! Sardines and salmon are a good value though, and are excellent sources of Omega's. Serve some today!

* Depression for prolonged periods of time can be very serious. The latest studies show that depression can be affected seriously by seasonal allergies, as outrageous as that sounds. If you suffer from them, try taking a decongestant or antihistamine for your symptoms. If you are seriously depressed, seek help! For more depression help, go to Depression.com.

Take Care: Nothing in excess is good for you! Taking more than the recommended dosage of Omega’s can cause the blood to be very thin and can be harmful. If you are taking a blood thinner like Coumadin, then do not take Omega's. Follow manufacturer’s directions for use.

* Calcium and magnesium have also been shown to help with depression. These supplements work synergistically; that is they work with each other, hand in hand. When your body lacks these vital nutrients, it becomes out of balance. Doctors treating depression, usually opt for prescription medicines or tranquilizers that also deplete their supply.
