Damaged Hair due to Yuko straightening system

by angie
(Liverpool)

My hair is completely ruined due to having had the Yuko process several months ago. I have spent a fortune on all sorts of conditioners but nothing seems to help. To give you an idea of the condition of my hair I would say it looks lifeless and feels horrible. If I run my fingers through it, my hair just sticks out at different angles (I would have needed hairspray to get an effect like that before the damage.)

It is porous and looks thin; you can actually see through the hair strands. Is there no hope other than grow it out which will take years?

********

There have been mixed reviews about the Yuko straightening system. There doesn't seem to be any consistent feedback about which types of hair are affected badly the most. Its a shame that strand tests aren't available, like when you color your hair.

Unfortunately, conditioners alone won't fix your hair. Conditioners with protein can help rebuild your hair possibly. However, if your hair structure has been compromised too much, these types of conditioners won't help much.

The main complaint with the Yuko straightening system seems to be after the first few months. Hair becomes frizzy and then extremely dry and brittle.

Try things like Nexxus Emergencee to help reinforce your hair and take vitamins like Super Biotin for hair growth. There's not much else you can do but give it time, keep using deep conditioning treatments, and get regular trims. (Shea butter conditioners are a good deep conditioner that work extremely well for overly dry hair!)

Even though protein helps to rebuild hair, don't overuse it and always use protein treatments with moisture. Too much protein will dry out your hair even more!
