Damaged Hair after Chi Straightening Treatment

I am a white female & I had mid-length hair that was very healthy. I had a lot of body & 27 months ago I had the CHI chemical straightening done. The first few shampoo's it was great. After that it was so dry that I couldn't even put my fingers throught my hair to wash it. It was like a matted beaver tail. It is some what better now. I have cut a lot out, but even the new growth is not like it use to be. It is still dry & some shampoos make it terrible. I never had that problem before. I have a water softener. Do you think this may be contributing to it?

Its hard to diagnose your hair without seeing it and knowing more about the water at your home. For sure, the water softener should be making your hair better, not worse, so you can pretty much cancel that out unless there is something else wrong with your water or your softener.
I have to wonder if you used the products at home that they recommended you to use after the service? If so, I'd have gone straight back to the salon and complained. On the other hand, if you didn't use the recommended products, then unfortunately, it's pretty much all on you.
Most likely this is linked to the products you've been using because of what you described. The first couple of shampoos your hair was fine, but then it changed the more you used them. Whenever you have a problem with your hair after shampooing and conditioning, you can pretty much bet that its the products you're using on your hair. It maybe that the chemicals that CHI uses in their products didn't mix well with one or more of the
chemical ingredients there are in most OTC hair products.
It would be worth a try to buy some
organic hair products or professional hair products and see if your hair bounces back. Nexxus Therappe shampoo is a great place to start. Also,
Nexxus Humectress should improve your hair if your hair still feels dry. It adds back the humectants that are robbed from your hair from the environment. Of course, the more moisture you add to your hair, the more frizzy it's likely to become also. You may also want to try a smoothing conditioner to help smooth your hair out after you shampoo in moisture.
Over time, your hair should go back to the way it used to be, before you got it
chemically straightened. I would also advise you not to have the service done again, until you figure out why your hair got so dry though.
