Damaged Curly Hair
Hi, I am a 17-year old girl and have extremely curly long hair. It was considerably thick until recently when I started losing a lot of hair and now I feel like I have a receding hair line. My hair is damaged and I have a lot of split ends. I straighten my hair on an almost daily basis and shampoo and condition my hair once a week. I don't use any sprays or gels on my hair. My hair now looks dry and dull. I was thinking of rebonding my hair in the future. Is there any way I can bring it back to life?

Why certainly! Stop straightening your hair everyday! Straightened hair is not a trend anymore anyway, but naturally volumous hair is! You've already got the curls, you just need use a moisturizing conditioner on your hair every time you shampoo.
You might be losing hair because at your age, your hormones are raging. This will pass but the receding hair line could be a family trait you can't do much about. At your age, I too had
split ends and my hair looked dull and dry but it remedied itself in my early twenties.
You might also think about using a good
deep conditioner, hair mask(masque) or
hair reconstructor a few times too.
L'Oreal Professional Liss Extreme Enriching, Smoothing Masque works wonders on
damaged hair.
Since you have
split ends, you might also need to use a few
protein treatments with moisture. These will help repair some of them, but also
trimming your hair will help eliminate them from the ends of your hair.
They also make
straightening shampoos and
straightening conditioners, that will help pull some of the curl from your hair without ironing it.
If you'd like to straighten your
curly hair occasionally, (after you've treated the damage), be sure to use
ceramic straightening irons, which help decrease hair damage.
