Cut My Hair Cause of My Boyfriend!

Last year my boyfriend broke up with me totally unexpectedly. Seems he had been seeing my best friend in secret. They both hid it from me and when I found out I freaked! I cried and cried for days and wouldn't talk to my mom or my other friends at all. NO one knew what had happened to me. I spent many hours by myself at home until one night when I couldn't take it any longer. I found myself in front of the mirror in my room. I had some scissors laying on the dresser and just started cutting my hair frantically. I don't know why I did, I just did! I just started whacking it all!!! When I was done, it looked horrible and knew almost right away that I had majorly screwed up my hair. It took months before I could go out in public without a baseball cap to hide my horrible hair. My mom finally convinced me to see a stylist who got some shape back into it. Its been over a year now and my hair's pretty much better. I lost two good friends that day is the part that makes me the saddest. Thank you for posting this page. I thought I was the only one who had ever done this until I read your page about it. ****************** I am so sorry Helen. No one deserves to be treated that way but it unfortunately happens all the time. I think cutting your hair is kinda like purging in Bulimia. It is a type of release for pent up or out of control feelings. Somehow, it also almost always involves a man or a trusted friend. I remember Jodie Foster did this in the movie The Accused years ago. She did it more to change her identity after she'd been gang raped on a pinball machine. It just goes to show, that emotions are a very powerful thing. They cause us to act irrationally and impulsively sometimes. Thank gosh your hair always grows back! |
