I am going overseas to see family and won't be able to use my hot rollers. Do you have any suggestions as far as product to help hold the curl and type of rollers that may work for me?
Hope you are well and I am sure you are keeping busy as always. Bless you for helping us cosmetically challenged out. All my best. Lisa
Professional Hair Care Tips - Lisa, I don't use a lot of hair products in my hair anymore but I certainly have used a lot of them in the past!
Use any gel that also say 'shine' or 'glide' or 'glaze' on it. These give the most bang for your buck, the best hold, and the most shine of them all. Pureology Styling Lotion with Shine and Sexy Hair Concepts, Blow It Up Gel Foam are both good choices, but there are many other hair gel products on the market that can help add shine and give your hair more staying power. Gels for curly hair and curl defining mousse are also available and good options to choose. When you buy shine and gel in one hair product, you'll actually save money and room in your suitcase. Of course, all gels add shine but the ones that actually promote shine on the labels give you the best results. Most gels will last you for years if you don't use them very often!
Volumizing hair products are always a good choice when you're traveling. The thicker your hair looks, the more luscious you'll feel! The best one I've found is called Matrix Amplify. (see below) It blows open your hair cuticle's, which helps volumize your hair like crazy!
To curl hair overseas, here are a few ideas:
You can braid your hair when it's wet, then let it air dry overnight. French braids work best if you can do one in your own hair. There are also velcro hair rollers on the market that work well but are not the best to sleep in. Use them on damp hair and allow to dry overnight. You can also use rag rollers but these take a long time to do. They are comfortable to sleep in though:o)
Use setting creams, gels, or mousse in damp hair before you roll it. Just be sure to roll your hair long before you go to bed so your hair has time to dry completely. Of course, you can always give your curls more staying power by using firm hold hairsprays after you unroll your hair. Don't use freeze hairsprays if you want your hair to have movement.
They also make curling shampoos that are said to help your hair be more curly. They might help you curl hair overseas if your hair isn't bone straight! There are many on the market to choose from. Stick with name brands that you know and trust.
They also do make instant heat hot rollers for overseas travel. From the reviews I've read, they work well and will save you a ton of time on your trip!
