Sensible Constipation Remedy

Looking for a constipation remedy that will help you save money? Just utilize your Vitamin C tolerance! If you are not getting enough Vitamin C you may be more prone to having sluggish bowels. Sluggish bowels can really slow down your day and make you feel terribly uncomfortable. Constipation can ruin a perfectly good day!

Vitamin C has many health advantages, especially since the amount of toxins we are exposed to has increased so much over time. It helps to combat the toxins that we consume from our food sources and beyond. Learn more about Vitamin C.

Everyone’s Vitamin C tolerance levels are different. When your body reaches it’s tolerance level, you may get gas or diarrhea. When you get just the right amount of it, your bowels move more easily, you become healthier and happier.

When deciding your tolerance for Vitamin C, it is recommended to take the highest dose that does not cause you diarrhea. This is also known as your Bowel Tolerance Threshold.

As mentioned in my Vitamin Supplement pages, Vitamin C is essential for the general overall efficiency of your body’s function at a cellular level.

Vitamin C protects against cellular damage, (via free radicals), boosts immunity, inhibits growth of cancerous tumors, raises cholesterol; HDL levels,(the good stuff), helps in the healing of wounds, burns, and bruises, prevents Arteriosclorosis, (build up of plaque on the blood vessel walls), prevents cataracts. It is necessary for healthy Adrenal function, healthy gums and gum tissue, and normal immune function.

Consuming caffeine, smoking, alcohol, taking prescription drugs, Chemotherapy, Steroids, etc., can negatively affect the way your body expels waste products. All of these things dehydrate the body and can deplete your body of vital water levels. Without proper hydration, your body cannot expel waste matter.

Taking the right amounts of Vitamin C is essential to bowel regularity. And taking more Vitamin C is HEALTHY for you!

Make sure you are getting enough Vitamin C if you have sluggish bowels! And it’s cheap to buy and helps guard your body against free radicals and Cancer.

Of course, there are a ton more ways to get the constipation relief you need. Here are a few suggestions.

More Constipation Remedy Tips

1) Eat more fibrous foods. - High fiber foods help to create more water in the intestines. That helps your body eliminate the contents of your bowels more easily. Examples of high fiber foods are dried beans, prunes, the skins of fruits, leafy green vegetables, and flax.

2) Drink Milk - Many people find relief by drinking more than one glass of milk per day. Reason? Most of us a lactose intolerant. When you drink more milk than your body can digest, it may cause your bowels to get looser. After all, milk does a body good:o)

3) Drink Apple Juice - Some people swear that a good constipation remedy for them is apple juice. Of course prune juice works just as well. But why settle for the juice when you can have the real thing? Apples and dried prunes are delicious fruits by themselves and help push things along!

4) Exercise - You've heard it again and again, but exercise is a great way to aid the digestive system. Exercise also creates better overall health and well being!

5) Herbal Cleanses - These are products that help eliminate the contents of the bowels. They are usually composed of specific herbs that aid the elimination process. You can find them at many super stores or on the net for cheap. Most of them are non addictive and are safe to use on a regular basis. There is a product called 'Colon Cleanse' you can purchase from the Walmart. You can buy 75 capsules for $10. Be careful though. This one contains Cascara Sagrada, which is an herb that can cause bloating and excessive gas in some people.

6) Stool Softeners - Stool softeners might not be a constipation remedy per sae, but they really help by making the stools more easy to get rid of. If you have hard stools, you will definitely benefit by using them. Give them some time to work though. When I first tried them, I didn't wait long enough and therefore thought they weren't helping much. Give them some time. You'll be glad you did. You can also buy the generic brand on the cheap.

7) Coffee - Try a cup of java. The bitter-tasting constituents in coffee, and most bitter-tasting foods, stimulate the digestive tract. Just don’t drink too much coffee, as it is also dehydrating to your system if it contains caffeine. If you don't like coffee, try Oregon Grape herbal tincture. The root of this plant has been used safely since ancient times to overcome occasional constipation. Mix 1/2 teaspoon Oregon grape tincture in water and sip slowly before eating for best results.

8) Blackstrap Molasses. - Take 2 tablespoons of molasses before going to bed to relieve constipation. Molasses is high in calories so if you’re counting calories, you may have to give something else up in order to use it.

9) Refined Foods - Cut back on the refined foods you consume. Switch from refined foods to more fibrous foods instead. Eat steamed vegetables that aren’t overcooked. Vegetables should realistically be slightly crunchy after you steam them. 10 minutes of steaming time is all it takes to cook most vegetables. When you don't overcook them, they retain their fiber which helps move them more easily through the digestive tract. Opt for whole-grain products that aren’t made with white flour. A serving of white rice has 0.5 grams of fiber; a serving of brown rice contains 2.4 grams of fiber.

10) Whole Grains - Eat 6 ounces of whole grains every day you can. Choose whole grains such as whole-wheat bread and whole-grain cereal, which have more recently come available. To get a big dose of fiber early in the day, eat a high-fiber cereal for breakfast. Check the labels on cereal boxes: anything with more than five or six grams of fiber per serving qualifies as high fiber. If you don't like high-fiber cereals, try mixing them in with your usual cereal and gently increase the amount of high-fiber cereal you have over time.
