Natural Constipation Remedies and Tips

Natural constipation remedies can give you the relief you need and keep you out of the doctors office! As lousy as the food is today, it's not surprising that more and more people are having problems going to the bathroom.

A sluggish intestinal tract can slow down your day and even stop you in your tracks! When you need it, having a few tricks tucked up your sleeve can be key to your relief.

Vitamin C is one of the easiest constipation remedies and has many health advantages as well. Especially since the amount of toxins we are exposed to has increased so much in this century. It helps to combat those toxins that we consume from our food sources and that we get from our environment.

When you take just the right amount of vitamin C, your bowels move much more easily. Everyone has what's known as s Vitamin C tolerance level, and everyone's tolerance level is different. When your body reaches it, you get diarrhea. When you get just the right amount, you have a bowel movement. Since it's a water soluble vitamin, your body eliminates excesses so it won't harm your body.

When trying to figure out your Vitamin C tolerance, you should take the highest dosage that does not give you the runs. (diarrhea) This is what's called your Bowel Tolerance Threshold.

You can also try what's known as a C-bomb.

  • 1 rounded tsp Ascorbic Acid (opt for the more expensive brands of ascorbic acid because cheaper brands are made from GMO corn.)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda in a glass of water.

    1 teaspoon of ascorbic acid = 5000 grams of sodium ascorbate. The baking soda coats your stomach and helps keep it calm.

    Drink immediately. You should empty your bowels in a hour or so.If you weigh more than 150 pounds, you may need twice that dosage. However, this is one of those constipation remedies that should only be used occasionally!

    Antioxidants like Vitamin C, are essential for the general overall efficiency of every cell in your body and keep them functioning properly.

    Vitamin C has many protective qualities. It is also necessary for healthy adrenal function gum health, and so much more!

    Taking the right amounts of vitamin C is essential to bowel regularity. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin C if you have sluggish bowels!

    Another thing that's vital to elimination, is proper hydration, AKA water. Medications especially can adversely affect the way your body eliminates wastes. So many things can cause dehydration, which only depletes vital water levels.

    Of course, there are a lot more ways to get the constipation relief you need. Use these constipation remedies and tips to help you get the relief you deserve!

    Natural Constipation Remedies and Tips

    1) Get more fiber in your diet. - High fiber foods help to create more water in the intestines, which helps your body eliminate the contents of your bowels more easily. Examples of high fiber foods are dried beans, prunes, artichokes, chia seeds, and the skins of fruits.

    2) Drink Milk - Many people find relief by drinking more than one glass of milk per day. Reason? Most of us a lactose intolerant. When you drink more milk than your body can digest, it may cause your bowels to get looser. Additionally, if you can find or buy local raw milk, that's even better. It is FULL of the good enzymes your intestines need to expel waste by-products.

    3) Cold Apple Juice - Some people swear that simple COLD apple juice is one of the best constipation remedies. Be sure to buy organic brands because regular brands contain a lot of sugar, which dehydrates your bowels. Of course prune juice works just as well too. But why settle for the juice when you can have the real thing? Both apples and dried prunes are delicious fruits by themselves and help push things along!

    4) Exercise - It's is a great way to get the digestive tract moving again. Exercise also creates better overall health and well being!

    5) Herbal Cleanses - These are products that help eliminate the contents of the bowels. They are usually composed of specific herbs that aid the elimination process. You can find them at many super stores or on the net for cheap. Most of them are non addictive and are safe to use on a regular basis. There are products called 'super cleansers' you can purchase but be careful. Some colon cleanses contain Cascara Sagrada, which is an herb that can cause bloating and excessive gas in some people.

    6) Coffee - Try a cup of java. The bitter-tasting constituents in coffee, and most bitter tasting foods in general, stimulate the digestive tract. Just don’t drink too much coffee, as it is also dehydrating to your system if it contains caffeine. If you don't like coffee, try Oregon Grape Root Tincture. The root of this plant has been used safely since ancient times to overcome occasional constipation. Mix 1/2 teaspoon Oregon grape tincture in water and sip slowly before eating for best results.

    7) Enzymes - The good bacteria that help digest your food and move things along are known to help relieve constipation. If you take antibiotics and other medications, they diminish daily supplies. You need more than can be provided by simply eating yogurt though. Even Greek yogurt is no match to the power of probiotics! Why? Unfortunately, by the time yogurt reaches any store, most of the bacteria is dead. That leaves very few live bacteria to help your intestines. Providing more of the good bacteria gives your body the armor it needs to fight off constipation. Each serving should supply around 10 billion active live enzymes.

    8) Blackstrap Molasses - Take 2 tablespoons of molasses before going to bed to relieve constipation. Molasses is high in calories, so you may have to give something else up in order to use it.

    9) Refined Foods - Cut back on the refined foods you consume. Switch from refined foods to foods that contain more fiber. A serving of white rice has 0.5 grams of fiber; a serving of brown rice contains 2.4 grams of fiber.

    You can also get more fiber by steaming vegetables instead of boiling them in water. Vegetables should realistically be slightly crunchy after you steam them. When you don't overcook your veggies, they retain their fiber which helps move them more easily through the digestive tract.

    10) Use oil or salt - Many folks get relief by taking one or two tablespoons of cold pressed olive oil everyday. Be aware however, that it may also temporarily increase your LDL cholesterol levels if you get too much so keep it around 2 tablespoons at most daily for that reason.
