Many people assume that wearing bright lashes will make their eyes look extraordinary, and rightly so! They do! Accentuating lashes in various colors really draws a gaze or double-take. You can wear colors in combination's with the old standards of brown and black, but they can also be worn all by their lonesome.

Bright blue was the only color available when I was growing up in the 70's. My sister and I used it all the time! We absolutely loved it and had several tubes between us! Although I still own several colors in my fifties, I don't use them as often as I should. I tend to forget about them until I'm going through my makeup bag... but I suggest you keep them in plain sight so you'll use them often. They're lots of fun and a novel idea when you're looking for something to break out of a boring habit. They're a fantastic way to jazz up your regular makeup routine in a snap!

You can find colored mascara in different tones of green, yellow, pink, purple, and blue. Beauty manufacturers are hard pressed to produce various colors that you demand.

There are many ways you can use the various mascara colors. Try these tips to enhance your lashes and create the color blends you like.

How to Use Colored Mascara

  • Brush and curl to extend and lift.

  • For sparse lashes, apply a clear coat to extend, thicken, and separate before you even start.

  • Apply your color(s).

  • You can apply colors by themselves or layer them on top of black or brown mascara. Like this:

  • Allow each coat to completely dry!

  • If you used a base coat of black or brown, try applying a color to tips too. This gives your lashes a snazzy variance, without overdoing it.

  • Use black on top lashes and add your colors down below.

  • For flashy colors, coat the top and bottom lashes using the same shade.

  • Or try flipping the switch and variate colors! For example, apply purple on top and green on bottom, like this:

  • Different mascara colors look great in natural lighting, but shows up the best in sunlight!

  • To make colored mascara stand out more, choose neutral shadow tones.

  • Try pink! It's one of those great shades that goes with every skin tone.

    Make Your Own Colored Mascara

You can create your own color mascara using products you already have at home!

    1) Apply clear/black/brown mascara to your lashes.

    2) While lashes are still damp/wet, dip a blunt eyeshadow brush (or shadow sponge) into any eyeshadow color and gently apply it on top of your lashes while looking down.

Make sure the colors you choose are brighter than your eye color. Your lashes are meant to accent your eyes! There are no right or wrong color combination's, if you feel comfortable wearing them!

Colored mascara has flair; is versatile, unique, exclusive, and uncommon! Using different colors in your makeup choices will perk you up, and lighten up the duldrums. Don't be afraid to try them all!
