Best Color Makeup for Blondes with Medium to Dark Skin Tones

The best color makeup for blondes with darker skin tones, are slightly darker concoctions of colors, than for blondes with fair skin.

When you have naturally dark skin, lighter pastel colors can diminish the effects you need to create with your sumptuous golden skin.

Your blonde hair may contain subtle hints about some of the colors you should choose. Blondes can have golden or strawberry glimpses of color but platinum blondes have no highlights at all. Makeup for you will be a delicate balance of colors that blend to create harmony between your light hair color and your dark skin.

Best Color Makeup for Blondes with Medium to Dark Skin Tones

If you have a medium to dark skin tone, you may need facial cleansers that have a little more punch. Your face is probably oilier so you’ll need facial cleansers that cut the oils but keep your face hydrated at the same time. Use toners that have stronger salicylic acid to help clean your pores and deep clean your face if you have oily skin. If you have dry skin, you'll need to use cleansers that are especially formulated for your skin type.

Moisturizers should be water based if you have normal to oily skin. Use heavier cream based moisturizers if your facial skin is normal to dry.

Foundation Colors

Your foundation makeup should match your skin tone and enhance your skin tone, not create a new one. Since you have naturally darker skin, you won't need as much cover anyway, unless you have facial discolorations you need to conceal. You can wear beige foundations if you don’t have red underlying skin colors. Beige, buff, and golden colors blend with your skin naturally. If you don't want to use foundations but do want to add more color naturally, try tinted moisturizers. You may not need foundations if you have naturally clear skin! If you have olive colored skin, beige foundations are your best friend. The red color in them counteracts the green tones in your skin.

If you have normal to oily skin, use liquid or mineral foundations. If you have dry skin, use cream foundations to lock in more moisture.

Lashes and Brow Colors

Ladies with darker skin tones typically have denser, darker lashes and brows. You’ll need to be sure you shape your brows first, before adding colors. Stray hairs popping out deter from your naturally thick brow line.

Because of your darker skin tone, you can get away with brighter, bolder mascara colors. Black is a must have color makeup for women with darker skin tones, but other colors work great too. Chocolate browns look fantastic as do other bold color makeup choices, like deep blues, sea greens, and popping purple mascara. Glossy black mascara can look seductive and bewitching!

As for your brows, stick with the correct shade for your brow hair. Brown eyebrow colors are always safe. Other color makeup selections like black might look too harsh. Try to match them to your natural brow colors for best results.

Eyeliner Colors

Because you’ve got naturally darker skin, you can get away with darker, mystical colors. Liners choices can range from dark brown, true black, green, blue, and even deep purple. You can match your liners to your natural eye colors or stray away from them to create contrast. For example, if you have green eyes and dark skin, you might try a navy blue or bright blue liner for a dramatic effect. Blue eyed babe's can wear teal blue or green or midnight blues. Women with hazel or brown eyes can wear them all! If you like more conventional looks, stick with liners in your own natural eye colors or use black or brown.

Apply pencil liners along the bottom lashes and liquid liners along the top lashes to glamorize your look. Don’t complete both lines along your lashes though. You'll look like you've been in a knock down drag out fight instead. If you use liners along the top lashes, only line the bottom third of your outer, lower lashes. Smudge them with a q-tip or your fingertip (wet or dry) to smolder your eyes.

Mix and match colors too. For example, you might try a black color on the outer third of your bottom lashes and a green liner color above your upper lashes. Mix and match any color makeup choices you want. Its all up to you and your mood. Make your eyes really stand out by using one of two methods.

Apply a white liner to the rims of your eyes on both top and bottom. That really makes your eyes pop, then apply a color sweep along your upper lashes. Or you can extend the lines outside your natural eyelashes with your liner color choices. (The rims of your eyes are above your bottom lashes and below the top lashes.)

Eyeshadow Colors

Darker skin tones can get away with a lot of different color hues! Use darker more vibrant shadow colors that set off your natural eyes. Look in the specs of your eyes for natural hints about color makeup selections. Try bolder colors of brighter pinks, hunter greens, twilight blues, green or blue teals, dark grays, and even sunset orange or tangerine colors. Peach, gold, silver, and even copper colors look fantastic too!

Eyeshadow trios come in your favorite shadow colors. Apply the medium base color makeup over your upper lids, the darkest color in the crease of your lids, and the lightest color on the inside of your eyes to enhance and highlight your eyes. If you didn’t use liner under your bottom lashes, apply the darker shadow color along the lower lashes only on the outside of your eyes.

Blondes with green eyes can get away with red-based hues like mauves or plum colors. Brown-eyed chicks can wear anything from chocolate browns to navy blue colors. Blondes with blue eyes look fantastic in gray’s, greens, or blue colors that match your natural eye color.

A good fail safe is using eyeshadow colors to create a smokey look. Smokey eyes look great on everyone. Peel off shadows are a cool tool you can use to create drama and are totally easy to use. You'll find a wide variety of peel off shadows to choose from too!

Blush Colors

Blush colors can be a bit bolder but you still need to remember stick to the colors that suit you best. Use bolder color makeup in shades of rose, peach, or even golden or dark bronzers. Apply them to your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, the center of your forehead and the center of your chin. Bony protrusions are the place for a touch of color because they are where the sun naturally hits your face and will help warm up your face. Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend. After you apply your blush, go over your entire face with a large makeup brush so you don't leave any harsh lines.

Lip Colors

People with darker skin tones can use colors that are bright and bold, or you can use glosses in darker shades. Select lip colors that blend naturally with your own lip colors and highlight them with lighter shades. Neutral colors always give a natural look but you can use brighter shades of pinks, browns, and even orange shade lipsticks. Because of your blonde hair, you can also opt for medium shades in softer colors.

Red lipsticks look great on every woman but keep to true red colors because of your blonde hair. Red lipsticks warm up your face without overpowering it. Don't forget about pink lipsticks either. Try bold hot pink lipsticks to smother the competition.

  • Blondes with dark skin should try a variety of colors that compliment your natural skin tones.

  • Shimmer is a great tool to use on over makeup like shadows or cheek colors. Don't just use to much so you don't overpower your face.

  • Small amounts of glitter can enhance your facial features and add glimmer to your hair for festive occasions.

Blondes with darker skin can have more fun if you choose your color makeup choices carefully. Have a blast when you apply makeup and create variations in color that suit your tastes.
