A raw food colon cleansing program is a good way to help relieve constipation occasionally. It's easy to do but there are a few precautions you should know about. If you want to cleanse liver and your bowels, a good way to do this is to eat only raw fruit and/or vegetables for a few days. You can choose any type of fruit or vegetable you like, but they should be fibrous and not starchy types!
Unless you already consume large amounts of raw foods, start any cleansing program slowly and gently. Raw fruit and honey are especially good cleansers. Some other vegetables also have a strong cleansing action, so these too are best eaten in moderation in the early stages of starting a raw cleansing program.
These are onions, leeks, chives, fenugreek and turnips. Also include raw celery in your diet on a regular basis, as it contains lots of fiber also. Just don’t clean the 'strings' in it too much. These are the fibrous part of celery.
If you start a raw fruit colon cleansing program too quickly you can send your body into shock. This is because toxins are stored in visceral fat and deep organs such as the liver and kidneys.
After the first couple of days, increase your food intake, but avoid:
Red meats
Processed foods
Sugar (and substitutes)
Salty food
Alcohol
Processed Lunchmeats
Soft drinks
Fried foods
Caffeine
This might suck true, but if you want to cleanse your body, do it the right way! Raw foods are the best way to remove toxic build up from your body!
The raw fruit colon cleansing diet requires you to concentrate on healthy whole foods, including whole grains and legumes, and drinking plenty of bottled water to help flush toxins from your system. Choose foods high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and low in refined sugars (including high fructose corn syrup). If sugar or high fructose corn syrup is listed within the first four ingredients, don’t eat it.
Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Choosing raw fruits and vegetables provides your body with living enzymes to help build healthy cells in your body. Drinking freshly made fruit or vegetable juices provides vital vitamins and enzymes without taxing the liver in the digestion process. Add fish to your diet twice per week as a low fat source of protein. When selecting salad ingredients, include dark leafy greens and a salad dressing that does not include trans fat, sugar, or preservatives.
When you go on the raw cleansing diet, the toxins are brought up from your organs to the superficial systems of elimination, where the bowel, lymphatic system, and skin all play crucial roles.
If these systems have not been properly prepared in advance, it can put considerable strain on the organs in the body and trigger what is called a 'healing crisis'.
This occurs when toxic substances are expelled from the body tissues faster than the organs of elimination can remove them, leading to toxicity in the blood and lymph.
So please use caution when starting a raw cleansing program to relieve constipation!
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO A COLON CLEANSING PROGRAM UNLESS YOU ARE RELATIVELY HEALTHY TO BEGIN WITH OR HAVE DISCUSSED IT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD NEVER ATTEMPT THIS!
The easiest way to help control bowel habits is to drink plenty of water and do an occasional intestinal cleanse, get plenty of fiber, and take probiotics if you have sluggish bowels. People with sluggish bowels should take probiotics that are labeled as 'Active Culture Probiotics'. If the cultures aren't active, you won't get the benefits. You need to remove the build up in your intestines and clean your gut out every now and then. Build up of toxins can cause many diseases and illnesses.
One formula that works very well for me, is multienzyme probiotics. Once I started taking these regularly, I got rid of my constipation altogether. Of course, there are many probiotic digestive enzymes on the market that work well!
*Note – Since I have problems with chronic constipation, I decided to try including some of the vegetables listed above into my diet. Of leeks, chives, fenugreek, onions and turnips, I like onions best, so I decided to give them a try. I started incorporating raw onions into my daily diet, by adding them onto my sandwich at lunch or including them in dinner. You can also add onions to cooked green beans or corn for a twist in taste too.
After I tried them, I could really notice a big difference in the way I felt. I didn't feel nearly as bloated and it was much easier to go. Try might want to try some raw onions too! You can relieve chronic constipation and may get just the relief you needed!
Just remember not to start out any colon cleansing program too quickly. Be gentle with your body. Remember that it's supposed to be your 'temple'!
*Note – Raw onions eaten before bedtime are associated with nightmares and/or very vivid dreams. Be careful not to eat them too close to bedtime so you can get a restful night’s sleep instead!
