How to Use Clay Masks

Clay masks are an inexpensive way to turn back the clock and firm your skin. Use them often to keep your skin looking great!

Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance have to be part of daily skin care.

It definitely takes a little work to have great skin but it can also be fun too! You can buy some great products that last a long time or use products or ingredients you already have at home.

Used regularly, clay masks can really make a difference. Don't overuse them because they can cause more skin eruptions, like pimples, more often. Any type of facial mask helps draw bacteria and dirt to the surface of your skin. For that reason, only use intermittently.

Used on a regular basis, clay masks help decrease fine lines and wrinkles and help firm puffy eyes or sagging skin. You can buy a large tub or tube of most clay masks from most any store. Each tub/tube will last you a long time, so cost per application is dirt cheap. Personally I use Queen Helene products but you can buy most any brand. Use firming facial masks around twice a month for best results.

How to Use Clay Masks

  • Wash and pat dry your face. Don't overdry. You want your skin to be moist, yet not wet.

  • Spread the mask evenly on your face and neck and allow it to dry, which in most cases will be 15-20 minutes. You can apply a thin layer or a thick layer. The thinner the layer, the faster it will dry.

  • While it's drying, your face will feel sucked in and completely frozen. Do not laugh or attempt to eat anything while its drying. If you get thirsty, use a straw with liquids. You don't want to crack your skin!

  • Gently remove the clay with warm water and a soft washcloth or get in the shower. Allow the water to moisten the hard mask, then very gently rub it off with your washcloth or your hands. Women have been using clay to tighten skin for centuries.

Clay masks help tighten and deep clean pores, tighten loose sagging skin on your face and neck, improve circulation to the skin, relax tired facial muscles and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Queene Helene Mud Pack is one brand that is an old standard, works well, and is cheap to buy. If you like organic products, go for products like Kiss My Face Organics Pore Shrink Mask, or Jason Organics Red Clay Mask. Always be sure to clean your face thoroughly after using masks though. Follow up by using a facial toner and you're all set!

If you don't already have clay masks at home, you can always use things you already have. Egg whites can do the trick! This is way easy to do.

Firm Your Face with Egg Whites

Crack open an egg over a bowl. Separate the white from the yolk. Discard the yolk or cook it and add it for your salad later:o)

Using your blender, on high speed whip the egg white until its stiff. This could potentially get messy, so its best to be in the bathroom when you apply it. Apply the stiff egg white directly onto a clean, dry face. Allow it to dry and then use warm water and a washcloth to remove it or get in the shower.

Egg whites will help tighten your pores, tighten loose sagging skin on your face and neck, improve circulation to the skin, relax tired facial muscles and soften fine lines and wrinkles.

Another home product to use is just plain white milk. Find out how to use it here.

You can also use oatmeal and honey! Mix plain oatmeal and honey together into a paste and apply it to your face. Follow the same directions to remove it as stated above. Your skin will be so refreshed and tight! It will be smooth, clean, and soft and you will have a healthier, more youthful complexion. If you want your skin to look great, firm your face with clay masks for great looking skin at any age!
