Brown Hair to Blonde Hair

by Samantha
(Worcester, MA)

I've been contemplating going blonde for about four years now, but don't know what shade is best for me. My hair is naturally dirty blonde with red under tones. My eyes are hazel and I have fair skin tone. Also, my eyebrows are a few shades darker than my natural hair color.

My current hair color is a plain brown, and I would like to know what shade of blonde hair would best fit my features, and what process would be best for me to achieve it. Also, what would be the average cost of the process you recommend for me?

***************

Samantha, the color blonde you choose is entirely up to you. If you'd added your picture, it would have been easier for me to help you choose, however any shade of blonde would probably look good with your skin tone and your eyes.

I need to know what specific shade of brown hair color you have before I can give you advice on how to achieve a blonde color. Is your hair light brown, medium brown, or dark brown? Your exact hair color will dictate which hair color products you'll need. For example, if your hair color is light brown, you can try a very light blonde hair color with 20 or 30 volume peroxide to get your hair medium to light blonde. If your hair is dark brown, you may need to do a double process, so you'd have to buy two bottles of color. If you have long hair, you'll need twice the products.

If you can answer these specific questions in the reply to this question, I'll try to finish answering your questions straight away.

The cost of hair color generally runs about $7-$10 in a Beauty Supply store. The cost of a small bottle of peroxide is about the same. A hair color bottle is about $1. Protective color gloves would be another couple of dollars. Hope this helps a little bit:o)
