Brown Hair Color Question

by Lissette
(Los Angeles)

I was told that i could only dye my hair color one color. What does that mean?

If I tell my stylist that I want to dye it brown & I tell her the type of brown, will it ALL come out the same color or will different shades of brown appear?

*****************

Lissette, I wished I could answer your question but I don't know all the details yet. You didn't give me enough information to answer you.

What I need to know.

  • What is your present hair color? (Be specific. For example, is your hair color light brown, medium brown, or dark brown.)
  • Do you have natural red colors in your hair?
  • What shade of brown hair color do you want your hair to be?
  • Do you have highlights or lowlights presently?
  • Are your roots darker than your ends or visa versa?

If you can please answer these questions, I'll get back to you straight away. Simply use the comment area to reply to me.

    Medium Brown Hair Color Advice
    by: Anonymous

    Hi Lissette,

You should be able to use a light brown hair color to your hair, mixed with 20 volume peroxide, to get a medium brown hair color.

20 volume peroxide lifts up to two colors. Thats what I'd use anyway. Since your ends are lighter than the rest of your hair, I'd do those last. Color your roots first, your mid shaft next, then add color to your ends last.

    Hope this helps!

Right now my hair color is dark brown, it almost looks black but you could tell it's brown. I don't have natural red colors in my hair. I want my hair to be medium brown. Kind of like this http://www.demipictures.com/displayimage.php?pid=2195&fullsize=1 :) I don't neither highlights nor lowlights. My ends are lighter !
    Thank you! ;)
