  • Cauliflower
  • Brewers yeast
  • Celtic salt
  • Cayenne pepper


  • Preparation:

    Wash the cauliflower and chop into popcorn sized chunks. Add the cauliflower chunks to a ziploc bag and sprinkle enough brewers yeast to completely coat. Season with Celtic sea salt and add cayenne pepper to taste. Shake thoroughly and it's ready to eat! You could also put the ingredients in a dehydrator for about 3-4 hours.

    It is also note worthy that nutritional yeast and brewers yeast both have a rich buttery taste. For some people however, brewers yeast has a bitter aftertaste.

    You can really add any other spices or seasonings you like. The more brewers yeast you use, the more brewers yeast benefits you'll get!

    Contraindications:

    Consult your doctor before taking brewer's yeast if you are prone to yeast infections, have diabetes, or take certain types of MAO inhibitors. Since chromium has been effective in increasing glucose tolerance by decreasing insulin resistance, if you are taking insulin, please consult your physician. Adding brewers yeast to your diet may cause an unsafe drop in blood sugar.

    Supplementation:

    Brewer's yeast can be found in the vitamin and supplement aisles of many pharmacies, grocery stores, department stores and vitamin specialty stores. For the best results, purchase the truest form of brewers yeast you can find. Good sources would be from health food stores or natural supplement stores.

    Other considerations:

    You can purchase nutritional yeast ('saccharomyces boulardii') or just use brewer's yeast. ('saccharomyces cerevisiae') Both are rich sources of B vitamins, which assists hair growth. However, according to studies at the University of Maryland Medical Center, brewer's yeast showed some promise at effectively treating diabetes and acne, but hair growth was not mentioned. Still, the brewers yeast benefits should be the same as nutritional yeast. In order to make the best decision you can, experiment with both types of yeast to determine which type works best for you.

    Even if you adapt your diet to include more sources of protein, B vitamins, and yeast, there is no 'guarantee' that your hair will grow. If you are suffering from hair loss, it may serve you well to include topical Minoxidil or Provillus, in addition to dietary adjustments.
