We know that bottled water and/or 'city' water is typically what most people drink and that water is essential if you want to lose weight.
Right? The answer is both yes and no.
Most people do drink their water out of a bottle, however most the water that we drink around the world leaves a lot to be desired, especially if it's not giving your body what it needs!
Bottled water is not exactly reliable anymore, (if it ever was?), because half the time you don’t know what you’re getting! Hopefully by now, you've heard this on the news! Spring water, purified water, Artisian water. We've all read the packaging! We should feel very blessed and fortunate to have an abundant water supply. However, is any of it good for you?
Is Bottled Water Good for Weight Loss?
The principle seems simple. You drink a lot of water to help flush the toxins from your body. You lose the toxins, you lose the fat! You lose the fat, you lose the weight. But will it work as well if the water you're drinking has dangerous chemicals or other toxins in it. (As well as pharmaceutical drugs which we all heard on the news recently!)
Here lies another dilemma. The water that's sold in bottles is mostly either advertised as spring or purified. Spring water is said to be a mixed bag coming many times from unreliable sources. The problem with purified water is that it’s been purified! Aren't there surely essential nutrients missing from it? The answer is yes. Purified water has no nutrients. Period. They've been extracted from it.
City water is purified in large plants all across the country. These plants are required by law to add chlorine and flouride to the water. Chlorine kills all of the essential nutrients found in water that our bodies need to function properly.
Too much chlorine OR flouride can kill you in large quantities.
If you are pumping harmful chemicals to your body, your body won't function properly. If your body isn't functioning properly, then how can you expect to lose weight?
Spring water is just as problematic. It contains some of the essential nutrients but may just be simple tap water that has flouride and chlorine in it. Its a huge dilemma!
So, what is the answer? Well, that’s a really good question! Besides bottled water, there are some other viable options to have good drinking water.
Personally I have well water in my home and have a Reverse Osmosis under my kitchen sink that connects to my refrigerator. I won't go into all the processes of Reverse Osmosis, but reverse osmosis is the best way to get some of the essential nutrients and still have clean water. Reverse Osmosis is suggested for those people who have well water in their homes!
If you have city water in your home, purchase a water purifier that connects to your kitchen sink, like 'PUR' or 'Brita'. You can also find Pur Water Pitchers that filter your water and properly eliminate contaminants from the city water you maybe drinking. You can at least remove the chlorine and/or flouride from your water.
You won’t be getting the essential nutrients, but at least you’ll know you aren’t drinking harmful chemicals. If you have city water, how many times have you turned your water on and smelled chlorine?
Do remember that it's what we use to bleach our laundry and keep our pools clean! Do you really think it’s a good thing to be putting this into your body?
There are water testing kits on the market so you can easily test your water at home. They are convenient, reliable, and easy to use. Test your water for lead, bacteria, and other contaminants without having to wait on someone.
Which ever form of water purifier you choose, just make sure that you still get your essential antioxidants that your body requires, wherever you get your supply of water. Water from a bottle is a good thing if you also get your essential antioxidants! Please remember to take any vitamins with water only! You want to benefit from the vitamins you take! Drink lots of water, lose the weight. Just make sure your water is from a dependable source as much of the time as you can.
Taking anti aging vitamin supplements is essential for everyone, especially if you're drinking bottled water!
More Bad News for Bottled Water
You may be using it everyday and refilling the ones you've already consumed. However, did you know there are fears that your water bottle could end up making you sick?
This comes following environmental health groups raising concern about BPA, which caused health problems in lab animals.
What is BPA? BPA is a synthetic sex hormone that mimics estrogen, and is used to make hard polycarbonate plastic. 95% of all baby bottles on the market are made with bisphenol-A. The results of a U.S. study show that when new bottles are heated, those manufactured by Avent, Evenflo, Dr. Brown’s, and Disney/First Years, leached between 4.7 – 8.3 parts per billion of bisphenol-A. Recent research on animals shows that bisphenol-A can disrupt development at doses below these levels.
First BPA was linked to baby bottles. Now it's in many things from non-disposable plastic water bottles to the lining of canned food.
There haven't been enough studies about BPA done right now, but it is something to be aware of and keep informed about. There are some safe plastic bottles on the market and glass bottles we can use, but there are growing concerns over the amounts of BPA we're getting from regular water bottles and how much of it is really harmful for us.
The biggest concern researchers have when it comes to BPA exposure involves premature babies, new born infants, young children, and pregnant women.
The National Toxicology Program's study said it may pose health risks, including Cancer, for humans. More research is still needed.
