black hair to medium ash blonde
I have dyed my hair black but due to gray roots I now wish to dye it medium ash blonde using Nice N Easy permanent colourant. Will it work?

In a word, no.
Your hair is black and full of black hair color molecules. Dark hair colors are very dense and hard to lift or remove. You will need to completely remove the color from your hair first. Once your hair is color free, you can use a lighter hair color.
The fastest and easiest way to remove hair colors are to use
hair color removers. However, you may have to do the process several times to remove all of the black color. Always follow manufacturer instructions to a T! If not, you may not get good results.
You are right in assuming that lighter colors cover gray much better than dark colors. Dark hair colors show gray hair much quicker!
Make sure that blonde color will look good with your complexion before you color though. In many instances, women with naturally dark hair look best with darker hair colors. You may opt to do a soft light or medium brown color and then
add some blonde highlights to help hide grays. This is the most compatible way of complimenting your skin tone and hiding
gray hair.
