Best Bleach to Use When Going from Dark Brown to Blonde

by Jessie
(Northern CA)

In March my hair was medium brown with lots and lots of blonde and red highlights. I put a store bought boxed dark brown over this and just two days ago put the ruby red PM shine on top of my dark brown. Now I have dark brown hair with ruby red roots and kinda red tint in the brown, but basically my hair is so dark its almost black. I know that I need to do a color strip, and I know I need to bleach it but I'm looking for a good (professional brand) of bleach that I can use on my scalp, and all over?

**************

Bleach is bleach is bleach! They are all chemically about the same product however, for the most golden-free blonde, use a bleach with bluing action. Get bleach products from a Hair Supplier, like Sally's Beauty Supply.

Bleach should never be applied directly to the scalp. It is also very hard to bleach your own hair uniformly by yourself. You are likely to wind up with a big fat hair mess and may damage your hair in the process. (I wonder who told you that you had to use bleach?)

The best thing to do is to use a hair color remover and get as much color as you can out of your hair. You may have to use one twice so make sure your hair is totally moisturized before you start. Also you need to moisturize well after you remove the color.

When you remove color, your hair should be a very light color. You can use a toner (if your hair is light enough) to help get your hair one consistent color.

This is all dependent upon how much color you are able to remove from your hair. If the color is stubborn, you may have a very hard time. PH shine tints are well known for being hard to remove. (just fyi)

If your hair doesn't lift like you want it to, you can also color your hair a light brown color for example, then add lots of highlights using bleach. This is a much better way to use bleach for most people who don't have much experience with it. Bleach is so strong. Please do be careful if you use it!

its not that i need it to go all the way down to my scalp but i want the blonde to go as close as it can to my root as possible because my natural color is a dark (dishwater)blonde.
