Anti aging Benefits of Juicing – Reverse Aging Naturally!
There are many benefits of juicing, but did you know that it can also reverse the aging process? Aging is not a disease, but it can adversely affect your life. One of the keys to reverse aging is to get the right nutrients that supply your body with the right ammunition to combat it. The older you get, the more nutrients your body requires!
There is no magic potion for aging. Research has shown that certain nutrients slow down the visible signs of aging, prevent many disorders, and extend life expectancy. We’ve all been told to get our daily vitamins and to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. However, when was the last time you actually got two servings of fruit and seven servings of vegetables in your daily diet? Exactly! Not many people can claim that they do! That's what makes juicing so beneficial. When you don't have time to eat them all, the benefits of juicing can be far reaching!
You can take a handful of antioxidant supplements daily, if your lifestyle does not include time to make juices. If you have the time and the (small) amount of energy it takes to include fresh juices, it’s simply one of the best ways to get required nutrients that are so vital to health and longevity. When you do, you too will reap the rewards and benefits of juicing!
Benefits of Juicing
Unfortunately, the Standard American Diet (SAD) does not provide the nutrients your body so desperately needs to function properly. The SAD is also said to be a major contributor to disease in America. It also contributes to the acceleration of aging more than any other single factor. SAD is high in refined carbohydrates, cholesterol, saturated fats, and processed foods. It is low in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, seeds and nuts, all of which provide dietary fiber and most of the essential anti aging vitamins and minerals.
In addition, the SAD increases the incidence of free radical exposure. Free radicals are produced within your body, obtained from the environment, and are ingested with food. Pesticides, insecticides, fried, barbequed, and charbroiled foods, alcohol, coffee, and artificial additives are all sources of free radical exposure. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules that can damage your cells. This process is one of the leading causes of many diseases and disorders, but is also a major contributor to aging. Free radicals need to be detoxified with anti aging nutrients like vitamins C, E A, and Selenium. These nutrients are supplied by fresh fruits and vegetables.
Anti Aging Benefits of Juicing
Leslie and Susannah Kenton, authors of the book Raw Energy, cite that 'a vast quantity of evidence exists showing that the high raw diet, (a way of eating in which 75% of your foods are taken raw), cannot only reverse the bodily degeneration which accompanies long term illness, but retard the rate at which you age, bring you seemingly boundless energy, and even make you feel better emotionally.'
Ann Wigmore, founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute, is one of the best advocates for the raw food diet. Even in her eighties she looked vibrantly healthy and much younger than her years. Shortly after Ann started on a raw foods diet, she was able to overcome illness and chronic fatigue, as well as slow down her visible signs of aging. Shortly after she started the raw food diet, her energy improved, her gray hair turned dark again, and her sagging skin tightened as though she’d had a face lift. If you're interested in her story and what she learned, check out her book; The Hippocrates Diet and Health Program.
Clearly, there are anti aging benefits of juicing and/or consuming large amounts of raw foods, especially if your busy life keeps you from eating properly. Making time to juice your vegetables and fruits with out having to eat them all, is a big time saver!
Diet Modifications to Include with Juicing
Eat and/or drink a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables and their juices. Ideally 50% of your diet should be composed of raw foods.
Add Black Currant or acai berry juice to your diet. Both are rich in flavanoids, which help prolong longevity.
Reduce refined foods such as white flour and it’s by-products.
Reduce saturated fats, cholesterol, and animal proteins. Butter is lower in saturated fats than margarine, for example. Latest studies on the consumption of red meat, shows that too much of it isn’t good for you. New guidelines include no more than 4 – 8 ounces of red meat a week.
Try eating one or two nights vegetarian style. You can include instead, lentils, beans, peas, soybean products like Tofu, whole grain rice or breads, and of course, lots of vegetables. In our house, we have salad night at least twice a week. If you like, add turkey bacon for a real treat!
If you must cook your vegetables, try steaming them until just tender only. Do not overcook them, which kills all live, active nutrients.
Eat more cabbage, yogurt, and Olive Oil, all of which have been shown to increase longevity.
Avoid refined sugars and it’s products.
Increase gel forming fiber in your diet by boosting your intake of flax seed, oat and rice bran, and pectins, which are found in raw fruits and vegetables.
Add rosemary and thyme herbs to your favorite dishes. These herbs especially have been shown to slow down aging.
Include more healthy snacks in your diet. Choose from seeds, nuts, raw vegetable sticks, whole grain crackers, natural popcorn, and fresh fruit.
If you can pick out at least three things in the above list that you think you can do, you will stay healthier longer and combat your biological clock. The anti aging benefits of juicing are real! Include fresh juices to replenish, rejuvenate, and reverse!
