Bad Hair Life
(Tennesee)
If you've ever had a bad hair day, consider yourself lucky! I seem to have had a bad hair life!
That's why I started cutting my own hair! Actually I must have had some good days or I wouldn't have continued the habit! (Eventually I get to the point where I'm desperate for a professional cut.)
I finally mustered up the faith to put my hair destiny into someone else's hands and voila! Instant misery!
Now, its too short in some places and too long in others! I feel so unlovely, and wish I could hide under a rock!
I'm desperate to find someone who will sympathize with my dilemma and cut my hair in a way that suits my facial structure!
It seems that I communicate so much apprehension when I sit in the beauty operator's chair that the professional either reacts with a scissor happy attitude or is totally confused and loses all of her creative juices!
Right now I am dealing with too short bangs, blunt sides, and too long in the back!
Before I went to the beauty shop, my hair was beginning to take on a new look that I was excited about and thought the operator would be able to trim off a little in the right spots and I would begin to experience some freedom from the normal
bad hair day. Not the case! I am more miserable now than ever! I don't even want to leave the house!
If anyone out there knows of someone who can help me please post a note on this website! SOS!

All I can do is shake my head... The horror!
I have been a seasoned hairdresser for almost 20 years now and
bad hair days is exactly why I went into Cosmetology. I wanted to be one hairdresser 'out there' that actually listened to her clients wants and needs! Did I ever get it wrong? At first, sure I did, but I always offered to fix it for free!
My motto was always to cut too little rather than too much. Once its cut, you can always take more but you can't put it back. (Unless you get hair extensions, which are costly!)
I started learning to cut my own hair years ago when I stopped working at a salon. I have made my own hair mistakes but have learned valuable lessons from those mistakes. You can
color your own hair and
cut your own hair! It takes a bit more time and you miss out on the nice relaxing shampoos. However, if you screw up your hair, you can only be so mad at yourself!
The best news is that God gave us all a gift. Our hair grows back! It may take some time, but you can use
styling gels and other
styling products to breathe new life into your hair and 'make do' in the meantime. Also, you might try
Super Biotin which will help your hair grow at a faster rate.
You might be able to find a stylist who can fix this eventually, but if it's as short as you say, the best thing you can do is to spike it in these areas (possibly) and just be patient.
When you do go back to a salon (if ever), make sure you get a stylist who has experience! Talk to managers and tell them your apprehensions beforehand. You need to communicate your exact needs before you get into 'the chair'!
If you want someone to suggest a stylist to you, we need to know the city and section of town where you live. Leave that information in the comments section below this:o)
