Did you know that you should apply eye makeup to match your eye color and NOT your clothes? Many women make the wrong assumptions about the colors they choose to wear. For example, a blue outfit doesn’t mean you should necessarily wear blue shadow’s or liners. Blue colors just might not suit your skin tone or complexion!
Everyone has a different eye color and skin tone. As you well know, not everyone has the same eye shade’s of the same colors. For example, blue eye colors can range from ice blue to deep dark blue. Someone with ice blue eyes would not necessarily use the same colors as someone with dark blue eyes.
Discerning diva's know that choosing the right eye colors can make or break your look! There are certain colors that look great on everyone so choose those colors for days you are 'iffy' about which colors you should use.
If you have fair skin and blue or green eyes, you should apply eye makeup in shades that enhances both. You may also need to take into account your hair color. Someone with olive skin, blonde hair, and hazel eyes should choose colors that blend well with all of them!

Choosing the right colors for you may seem like a big mystery. Use these general suggestions to get you started choosing the right colors!
Apply Eye Makeup to Match Eye Color
Blue Eyes You may have light blue eyes, dark blue eyes, or any shade in between. Experiment with various shades of taupe, blue, violet, purple, pink, gray, and black. Choose more subtle shades for day wear and experiment with the trendy, darker alternatives for night wear.
Funky Favorites: silver, turquoise, fuschia (brightens any shade of blue)
Hazel and Green Eyes Hazel eyes often reflect the colors around them. Hazel eyes are the exception to the clothes rule. It may be important to change your eye makeup colors for different outfits, unless those colors don’t look good with your skin tone! Hazel eyes most often appear green. Colors that work well with hazel and green eyes include brown, khaki, deep green, and plum. Experiment with different shades within these color families to create looks for different occasions and outfits.
Brown Eyes Brown eyes look great in shades of pink, purple, plum, brown, orange, salmon, peach, and deep blues. The colors that look best will depend on the undertones of your skin. For example, if you have brown eyes and olive skin, you will look best in shades of pink, peach, or brown. If you have brown eyes, fair skin, and dark hair, you may look best in various shades of pink and plum.
Funky Favorites: tangerine, royal blue, hot pink, lime-green (the contrast adds punch to brown)
All Eye Colors Classics White, navy or charcoal base to define and a soft powder-blue shadow for highlighting (it brightens your brow bone so any eye color pops)
Funky Favorites: silver-sparkle shadow makes all eyes pop.
Remember that finding eye shadow colors that match your eye color can be a bit tricky. Use the suggestions as a guideline as there are always exceptions to the general rules. When you experiment around a little, you will learn better how to apply eye makeup colors that are best suited for your eye colors.
