Anti aging hair tips help keep your luscious locks healthier longer. Some people have long luxurious hair, while others have hair that’s thin and sparse, but everyone wants to have healthy hair! The condition of your hair is influenced by your overall health but can be altered by many other factors.
Your hair is simply an extension of your skin. Although dead after it leaves the follicle, hair looks like it’s alive when it’s colorful and dimensional. The hair you have, is a direct result of the genes your family carries. Whatever hair type you have, it was determined before you were born. It’s all part of the genetic mapping we receive from our parents and our grandparents. No one really ever knows what they’re going to get though, until you begin to age.
Ever wondered why some people have naturally healthy hair, while others do not? Like other physical characteristics such as body shape and skin tone, the hair you have is the hair you are programmed to have. For some it is dense and thick. For others it is thin and sparse.
The aging process can be hard on you and your hair. Many things, like environment, hormones, illness, and life changing circumstances, can alter your hair and influence your hairs condition. Many times, it’s not in a good way.
There are some ways to stay proactive and have anti aging hair, well beyond your youth. Women often ask me what they can do to grow thick, luxurious hair. The answer is different for all women but these are the general rules to healthy hair!
Anti Aging Hair Tips
Eat Healthy Foods. The condition of your hair reflects your overall health. If you eat healthy foods, your hair will be healthier. Consume a diet based on whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, nuts, and low-fat dairy foods. These foods provide the best natural way to have anti aging hair.
Take Biotin. There are countless vitamins touted to make your hair grow faster, stronger, and longer, than taking prenatal vitamins, which so many people recommend. Even if you eat a good diet, you still might need vitamins. Biotin is a B vitamin that is essential for healthy hair, nails, and skin! Take 1500 – 5000 mcg. of Biotin a day. Leave the prenatal vitamins for pregnant women.
Moisturize! Shampoos are often potent soaps that can strip your hair’s natural oils, which leaves it dry, dull, and brittle. Shampoo the hair at your scalp only, not the ends of your hair. Use a conditioner as often as possible on the ends of your hair to help lock in moisture. This will help your hair be thicker, shinier, and healthier.
Try L-Carnitine. A recent study showed that L-Carnitine stimulated hair growth. Red meat (particularly lamb) and dairy products are the primary sources of carnitine. It can also be found in fish, poultry, tempeh, wheat, asparagus, avocados, and peanut butter.
Hair Loss. If you find that you're losing your hair, you may want to consider taking 250 mg of L-carnitine and 10 mg of CoQ10 together daily. Your hair and nails will grow like crazy. L-carnitine is made up of the amino acids lysine and methionine. CoQ10 turns the energy in the foods you eat into the energy your body metabolizes. The presence of the CoQ10 makes your body recognize the L-carnitine as a protein. That jump starts the production of Biotin. Both L-carnitine and CoQ10 are generally inexpensive to buy. You will notice the faster growth immediately. The downside is that you may have to shave your legs twice as much. (Seems easier to me to just take Biotin:o)
Try a Haircut. Your hair can be many years old, so it reflects all your body has been through in that time. For instance, if you were sick a few months back, then the hair that grew in during that period might be thin and brittle. It will remain that way until it's cut off. For anti aging hair care, it might be time to get rid of damaged hair and focus on taking better care of the hair that is still healthy.
Hask Placenta – If your hair is damaged, due to illness or other environmental influences, try hask placenta. The benefits of hask placenta far outweigh it’s composition. The product is made from the placenta of a newborn sheep, which is harmless to the sheep. It may sound gross but this stuff works better on anti aging hair, than any other product on the market. It is extremely cheap to buy and packs a powerful punch! Hask placenta may actually help to mend split ends.
Rub It! – Take advantage of your body’s natural oils that accumulate on your palms. During the day, rub your hands over your hair as often as possible. The transfer of oils from your palms to your hair, helps protect your hair and adds shine and manageability.
New Hairstyle! – One of the best ways to turn back the clock is simply to try a new hairstyle. To keep from cutting your hair the wrong way, be sure to take advantage of free demo tools that are available on the net. These virtual hair tools are a great way to try a new hairstyle without sacrificing your hair first.
Don’t Over-brush! – Women from the 1800’s through the early 1900’s used to brush their hair 100 times before bed every night. This was done to help distribute natural oils that can accumulate at the scalp. Scientists now know however, that over-brushing is not good for your anti aging hair care. In fact, it can lead to hair breakage and hair damage. For the best anti aging hair results, brush your hair no more than twice a day. Remember to always brush dry hair and comb wet hair. It’ll cut down on the amount of breakage you have. Use natural bristle brushes as plastic brushes tend to cause split ends.
Pull your hair behind your ears. As you age, the hair along your sideburns is almost always the first to become gray and wirey. You can take 10 years off in 10 seconds just by pulling your sideburns back behind your ears. Allow the rest of your hair to gently cascade over your ears. Out of sight, out of mind! Wirey and gray gives your age away fast.
Don’t Overwash. – Over-washing your hair can lead to a dry scalp and dry hair, especially if you sport a longer hairstyle. For medium length to long hair, you really only need to wash your hair two or three times a week. Shorter hairstyles can be washed more often.
Clarify Your Hair. Product build up can make your hair look dull and lifeless. Get rid of product build up once a month by using a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos strip off the gunky junk, which makes your hair shine brilliantly. After you use clarifiers though, you'll need to condition your hair to provide moisture and oils that the shampoos eliminate.
Try a new hair color or add highlights or lowlights for anti aging hair color. Subtle or chunky splashes of hair color add zest to your color and rev up your hair. If you don’t want to change your overall color, try adding highlights and/or lowlights to zip up your hair. Highlights around your face brighten up the whites of your eyes and your face and add tons of shine to your hair.
Tip your hair! No, I'm not talking about giving your hair money! Ha! Hair tipping is a very easy to do, hair coloring technique that only adds color to the ends of your hair. It adds a splash of color and enhances your style in a snap!
Use deep conditioners. – Deep conditioners help smooth your hair cuticle. The smoother the cuticle, the more your hair can reflect color. The more it reflects colors, the shinier and healthier it looks. You can go from drab to fab by investing in a good deep conditioning treatment. You might also invest in a heat cap for your anti aging hair care. These appliances help any conditioner penetrate deep into the hair follicle, which gives you mega bang for your conditioner bucks!
Buns and Ponytails – When you pull your hair back into a bun or ponytail, it helps to tighten facial skin. This really helps turn back the clock!
Taking good care of your hair is easy to do when you use these tips for your anti aging hair care!
