Acai Berry Fruit - The Small Purple Fruit with the Big Impact On Weight!

Acai berry fruit is a dark, round, purple berry that is indigenous to the lush Brazilian Amazon country. This region is home to many extraordinary nutritional fruits that are unique only to that area of the world.

Açai (pronounced 'ah-sigh-ee'), which is harvested at the height of nutritional potency and flavor, has seven times the antioxidants of blueberries and an abundance of other essential plant chemicals. It has a very deep flavor, which is reminiscent of blueberries. It's vivid purple color lets you know it's rich and potent!

    Freeze Dried Supplements

    Acai supplements are freeze dried to maintain their nutrients and are considered to be a quality resource. In this process the berry pulp is dehydrated and then frozen before turning it into a powder. Very low temperatures are maintained during this process in order to retain the maximum nutrients. No preservatives nor carrying agents are needed.

    Dried Acai berry powder has a much higher ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score than Acai berry with pulp.

    Spray Dried Acai Supplements

    This is a quicker and less expensive way of getting acai berry powder. This process involves heating the berries to a very high temperature to dry it. The dried berry is then sprayed with a carrying agent like Maltodextrin.

    This form of supplement is less desirable because the heat destroys a large percentage of the berry’s nutrients, which are sensitive to high temperatures. Also the final product also contains Maltodextrin, which is almost 40% of the final product.

    Acai Berry Extract

    During the process of making herbal extracts, a single chemical element is extracted from the plant. Acai Berry extract is taken from the spray dried acai powder. That makes it an even less desirable form of an Acai berry supplement because it has very few nutritional benefits as compared to the Acai berry fruit. Freeze dried supplements are always the preferred way to buy Acai berry!

    When you look for Acai berry fruit products and supplements, make sure you check the labels and product information for these specifics:

  • Certified Organic Ingredients.
  • Acai is Processed Within 24 Hours.
  • Not Processed in China.
  • Freeze-Dried and Not Spray Dried Acai.
  • Acai Should Never Be Heated.
  • No Fillers Such as Soy or Maltodextrin in Processing.
  • No Fillers or Water Added to the Product.
  • No Added Sugar, Artificial sweeteners, Fructose or other Stimulants.
  • No Chemical Preservatives.
  • ORAC Lab Testing Done on Actual Product.

    If you decide to give Acai berry fruit products a whirl, start with a small amount first to make sure you'll use it. I love it but you may not! (although I think you will!)
