Life sure does seem complicated nowadays! It just gets more and more frustrating with each passing day. Trying to squeeze in extra time for yourself is difficult to do at best.

Most people today want to lose a few pounds and get healthier, and most people know what changes they need to make. However, most plans are often too time consuming. They can zap all your extra energy just thinking about them! I don't know about you, but when things get overly involved or difficult, my brain turns to mush. When that happens, changes only seem harder to achieve!

Big changes are like this huge mountain you have to climb in order to reach your goals. Small changes however, are much more desirable because they are things you can implement without thinking too much about them.

Here are a few quick ideas you can do to create better health the easy way!

  • You may not have time to eat right all the time, but you can make time to pop a few vitamins in your mouth. Antioxidants protect your health and are a must-have to stop diseases in their tracks!

  • Running out of toothpaste is inconvenient but did you know that dry brushing your teeth is better anyway? It decreases the chance of your gums bleeding by 50 percent and reduces tartar build up by sixty percent.

    To dry brush: first scrub the insides of all your teeth and then buff out outer surfaces. Rinse, spit and then brush with toothpaste if you like.

    FYI - My dad was a dentist and there's one thing he drilled into my head that I did want to share. Always, always use soft bristled toothbrushes. Firmer (medium and hard) toothbrushes can scratch enamels and are too harsh on the gums. I can only hope you already knew this!

  • Tomato sauces have a much greater concentration of vitamin C than do raw tomatoes. Including two or more servings of pasta with tomato sauce each week can reduce a man's risks of prostate-cancer risk by 34 percent. For the ladies, getting more vitamin C also helps rejuvenate your skin.

  • Too much alcohol, protein, or fat can show up on your contact lenses as cloudy deposits. It’s also a good indicator that your cholesterol levels need checking.

  • Always incorporate some veggie or fruit with each meal. Why? A 14 year study concluded that men who ate regular servings of fresh produce in their diets more often, reduced their risk of digestive tract cancers by 70 percent. If it works for men, it should work doubly good for women!

  • Blueberries contain potent compounds and soluble fiber that helps improve circulation. Including two or more servings of blueberries each week by adding them to your cereal or pulsing them in a smoothie.

  • If you love red wine, try and find the brands made in Chile. Cabernet sauvignon made there contain as much as 38 percent more flavanoids than French or American brands, which helps kill more free radicals.

  • Prevent low back pain by seventy five percent just by strengthening your core and building your abdominals. Try and get in a dozen crunches everyday, which is not that hard to fit into any schedule!

  • Next time you’re in the mood for pizza, order the thin crust. Because it has one third less calories than thick crusted pizza, it saves you calories. Be sure to top it with plenty of vegetables so you can crunch your way to better health.

  • If you have high blood pressure, skip that second cup of coffee. It adds 16 extra heartbeats per minute to your heart rate.

  • Cherry juice contains high concentrations of melatonin, which helps you get a better nights rest. In fact, melatonin is often the main ingredient in many OTC sleeping aids.

  • Ever wake up with a pain in the neck? Maybe it’s time to ditch your pillow. How do you know? If you fold your pillow in half and it bounces back flat, it’s still acceptable. If it doesn’t bounce back, it’s time to do some pillow shopping.

  • If you regularly wake up before the alarm goes off and can’t get back to sleep, try this technique called "Kur".

    As soon as you wake up, go into the bathroom, wet down and wring out a washcloth, then wipe down your skin. (legs, arms, torso) Then go back to bed. You should be able to fall right back to sleep!

    Reason? The body gets very warm during early morning REM sleep and most beds hold heat. When you cool your skin down, you should be able to fall asleep quickly and the sleep you get will be much more restful with more dreams. This is called Kur, and is a method used often in Europe.

  • Banana’s may not be the cure all but their high potassium content can help lower blood pressure. Just one a day is all you need.

    Creating better health the easy way is something everyone can do. You don't have to count calories or follow a book to fit them into your schedule! No sweat, no problem, no trouble! Easy!
